“Am Not Sure Cameroon Is Ready To Host The AFCON” says CAF President

After romours of the Confederation of African Football stripping Ghana of her hosting right of the 2018 Women AFCON barely three months to the start of the tournament, Cameroon could be the next country to suffer the same fate as Ghana if the remours concretise.

The president of CAF, Ahmad Ahmad has cast doubts on Cameroon readiness to host the continental jamboree come 2019, Kwese ESPN is reporting.

In an interview with Kwese ESPN the president of CAF, Ahmad Ahmad is quoted as saying “I am not sure Cameroon is ready to host the AFCON…There are many things which are still wanting and yet there is little time left…It would be dangerous to risk African players, especially the professionals plying their trade in Europe and other continents, to play under difficult conditions and facilities”.

“If you are not ready, come out open and say you are not ready…In 1996, Burkina Faso was supposed to host the AFCON but said they were not ready, and South Africa took up the chance to host.” According to Ahmad Ahmad Cameroon’s infrastructure is still a major concern.

The first Vice president of CAf Amaju Pannick who led the delegation assured Cameroon that her hosting right of AFCON 2019 is unquestionable, adding that “what we have seen so far is quite impressive”
