President Paul Biya Is Personally Committed To Organizing CAN 2019 In Cameroon

Following the declaration of Ahmad Ahmad, president of the African Football Confederation, on the alleged lack of preparation for Cameroon to organize the 2019 CAN, it is the turn of the Cameroonian president Paul Biya to react personally to the success of the competition.

On Thursday, August 10th, during the decoration of several Cameroonian athletes who shone in different sports competitions, Paul Biya said: "Cameroon will be ready on D-day. I commit myself to it ". A declaration that comes in full controversy over the country's ability to organize a CAN 2019 extended from 16 to 24 teams by a decision of the CAF taken on July 20.

It was with solemnity that the Cameroonian president first addressed the athletes who participated in the Islamic games and the 8th Games of the Francophonie recently held in Abijdan, Côte d'Ivoire . "Other sporting adventures are on the horizon, other sporting conquests await you, the 2019 CAN is already tomorrow, you have rendezvous with Africa sporting here in Cameroon".

A shocking statement by the CAF President
"As things stand, no site in Cameroon is able to host the CAN," said Ahmad Ahmad, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This has shocked the Cameroon Football Federation. "The Fécafoot has learned with great dismay the recent statements of the president of the CAF," said the latter in a press release received by AFP on Monday.

On Saturday, CAF President Ahmad Ahmad said experts, but also a specialized audit firm, were to make an inspection visit. They will be asked to assess "whether the Cameroonian federation can organize this CAN at home". Mr Ahmad had put forward the hypothesis of a "Plan B", an "opening of tendering procedures so that there would be other countries participating in the organization of the next CAN". President Paul Biya Is Personally Committed To Organizing CAN 2019 In Cameroon
