Teacher impregnates Grade 6 pupil

POLICE in Masvingo are looking for a primary school teacher, Tafadzwa Mutepfe, 32, on allegations of raping and impregnating a grade six pupil who was in his class.

Gutu United primary school head Elizabeth Chitsa confirmed the case but referred questions to the Provincial Education Director (PED) Fadzai Jirivengwa

"One of our male teachers is no longer reporting for duty amid reports that one of our grade six pupils is three months pregnant, but the best person you can talk to is the PED," she said.
Masvingo provincial ZRP spokesperson, Inspector Peter Zhanero, said police have since launched a manhunt for Mutepfe.

"Police received a report of a minor who got impregnated by his teacher … no arrest have been made so far, but we are working tirelessly to bring the culprit to book," he said.
Senior teachers at the school who spoke on condition of anonymity told the reporter that the teacher was having sex with the girl in the bush after lessons.

"The mother of the girl was the first to notice that her daughter is pregnant and, upon quizzing her, she was told that the person responsible for the pregnancy was her teacher and she came with her to us.

"We further interrogated the minor and she revealed that she was having sex with her teacher five times a week since November last year and would not see him only on weekends when she was at home," said one of the staffers.

The teachers said the minor revealed that the Mutepfe propositioned her and then occasionally showered her with presents before the abuse started.
